What we do

Derek Lucas, ably assisted by Irene, lead a team of experienced and highly motivated people to guide you through the activities.

Note: We are not instructors, rather we are guides and mentors.

We guide the activities as if we are holding up a mirror to reflect situations and processes that are occurring within the group. These same interactions may also be occurring in the work place and we are therefore able to offer opportunities to test ideas and provide solutions in a non-threatening, but supportive way.

Located in Kangaroo Valley, Operation Challenge offers a wide variety of activities. They are always undertaken in a friendly atmosphere that emphasises safety, sensitivity to individual needs, together with a dash of zany humour.

The exercises range from entertaining problems to quite complex tasks, and whilst they are out-door based, they make only moderate physical demands.

They have been developed to push personal limits but not at the risk of health or safety. Team members are never coerced into participating in events they are not comfortable with. And quite often the activities provide an opportunity for a participant to take on an observer role, and to then offer valuable insights at a debrief.

All the activities can be applied across a wide variety of business situations, i.e., from Chief Executives to operatives.

A further feature of the experiential learning system is that, within each task, there is the opportunity for a second go, thus enabling the individual and the team to consolidate their learning.

At the completion of each task, there is always a debrief of the process that took place, with the aim of linking the learnings back to the workplace.
